FAQs
What can I sell with Armstrong?
Armstrong is uniquely specialized in selling fine arts such as prints, drawings, photographs, and paintings. Unlike many of our competitors, we sell art in all price points. We are known for taking on substantial consignments (from a couple of dozen to hundreds of works) and welcome single-owner sales.
If you wish to sell a group of other types of artwork, such as decorative arts, sculpture, or other collectibles such as maps, stamps, and cards, we also welcome your inquiry. While we are unable to take lower-priced individual items in such categories, we are willing to bring comprehensive groupings to market for you.
Do I need to submit an image?
Our form requires that you submit at least one image. If you have difficulty doing so or wish to tell us about a collection of items, rather than a single one, email us, or call us. We’ll be happy to work with you in the way that suits you best.
How specific does my description need to be?
That’s entirely up to you, but as mentioned above, more is simply more. At the very least, remember to indicate the size and whether the art is signed.
How do I know the reserve price and estimate are reasonable?
Unlike our competitors, we will share with you why we suggest the prices we do. We will email you prior comparable auction records, so you know we present you an offer that will yield a sale, at a current market price.
What happens then?
If you decide to work with us, we will help you decide which way to ship your art to us most conveniently and economically. As soon as your art arrives in Chicago, we will acknowledge receipt, and email you a receipt detailing what we received with a reserve price and our general terms for your reference. Once signed by you, we will take care of the rest, and send you a check when your artwork has sold.
What happens if the art doesn’t sell?
If your artwork fails to sell, we will reach out to you to discuss the next possible steps, including offering it in one of our next auctions, offering it for sale privately, or returning it to you.
